Thin, unbalanced pad
Mat was much thinner than I expected, and pretty much useless. The top cover isn't comfortable for bare feet, the bottom padding doesn't even cover the whole mat, comes in a good 2" from each side, and at that didn't offer much padding. Definitely not worth the price.

These mats are either the rubber, or the expanded foam rubber like product. For the expanded, an electric carving knife works well. I've never tried it on the dense rubber before, but try it on the corner first.

That sounds like a personal problem.

If you have foot problems, you can't really do much about that. Having soft floor mats isn't exactly a safety regulation, and so long as they meet all requirements specified by the law, then you really can't sue them for it.
