Now Im realy concered because i just read that foam mats are being banned in Europe due to cancer causing chemicals in the foam.- - -[...]Belgium is to ban the sale of all foam... -
A little thin but serves its purpose
We have this set up on carpet, so the fact that it's a little thin makes little difference for us. We just didn't want our baby's face in the carpet constantly (I believe there are carcinogens in the stain sealants and we live in an apt. so don't see much point in shampooing or anything). The...

i dont like the idea my baby on the carpet or even putting a blanket unless, am scared if insect will crawl up on them. are their any floor mats that i can get to put my baby in, that is safe?
I have the same issues as we have scorptions in TX! I had the carpets cleaned and now we don't wear our shoes inside. We take them off in the garage. As for the tile, I bought some rubber-type ABC and 123's floor squares at Babies R Us.

News of the Weird for November 20
At press time, Melinda Arnold, 34, was waiting to hear whether her mother would be accepted as an organ donor for her daughter — with the organ being the mom’s womb. Melinda (a nurse from Melbourne, Australia) was born without one (though with healthy ovaries and eggs), and if the transplant by Swedish surgeon Mats Brannstrom of Gothenburg University is successful, and Melinda later conceives, her baby will be nurtured in the very same uterus in which Melinda, herself, was nurtured. (Womb transplants have been performed in rats and, with limited success, from a deceased human donor.)
Government in action
∫ A British manufacturer, BCB International, is flourishing, buoyed by sales of its Kevlar underwear, at $65 a pair, to U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq. However, soldiers and Marines must buy them directly; the “Bomb Boxers” are not supplied by the Pentagon even though nearly 10 percent of battlefield explosive-device injuries result in sometimes-catastrophic genital and rectal damage. According to an October report in Talking Points Memo, the Pentagon’s currently issued protection is inferior to BCB’s but is less expensive. (Although the Pentagon fully funds post-injury prostheses and colostomies, it could purchase about 7,700 Bomb Boxers for the price of a single Tomahawk missile.

It’s cute. I purchased it mainly because it fit the color scheme in our living room, and I liked the letters and numbers on it. In hindsight, that’s silly because it’s best used for babies 5 or 6 months old to about a year or so, once they start walking (once they’re older than that, there’s no way they’re going to stay on a mat this small anyway). They’re not learning their alphabet this early, so the alphabet design on the mat is pointless....Floor Mat baby News
