These DO protect flooring

Go to an office supply store and get a plastic chair mat. They are textured and they really do stop the chair from sliding around so quickly. They also protect the floor.

The ground floor of the museum has been tailored specifically for its current exhibition, "Carsten Höller: Experience," and reflects the German artist's unorthodox style. The elevator area has been painted black and white with zipper-like "Zöllner stripes," intensifying the vibe of the museum and setting the stage for further excitement within its walls. Across from the entrance stand four sets of "Giant Triple Mushrooms." The installation shows disfigured, partially upside-down mushroom stalks in different colors and heights.
The museum's new exhibition breaks the traditional boundaries of installation artwork. The exhibit's main installation, "Untitled (Slide)," is exactly what it sounds like: The work is a fully enclosed, 102-foot steel slide, beginning on the fourth floor and coursing down to a second-floor room covered with flashing, zigzagged white lights. The slide is amazing. Sitting on a potato sack to reduce friction, the rider slides down at an incredibly fast speed, zooming past the third floor and landing on a large mat in front of the seizure-inducing wall of lights.
