This product is not safety rated for under 3 years old. We purchased it and learned after it arrived that it isn't safe for babies. It also smells toxic. They indicated that they changed factories at the start of the year, so older versions may be safe, but the new product is not. -
Fun baby/children's mat!
We just received our Edushape solid-colors tiles today, and they are awesome! I have yet to actually put baby on the mat and "try it out," but I did put all of the pieces together. It is fairly soft for a baby to use for a play mat (even though the directions say that the product is for age...

Would I need to cut the tiles with a angle grinder?
Whats the best way to stick it down?
I need the mat flush with the floor tiles.
Would it be better to use a glass cutter to cut the tiles?
You need to create a "mat well" by removing tiles, and putting in an edging strip.
Probably won't need sticking down once the well is created.
If you have spare tiles, then removing whole ones and cutting new would be easiest.
Otherwise
Since both the tile and the mat have both been in the same room all night, shouldn't they have the same temperature? I am confused about this because I would think each material feels as cold as the other equally.
The perception of "cold" is due to your nerve cells. If an object is giving heat energy to your skin, you feel warmth. If it is taking away heat energy, you feel cold.
A tile is a much better conductor of heat than carpet, so it will take away heat energy
