Crescent City man arrested following three-vehicle collision
A Crescent City man is in the Del Norte County jail recovering from moderate injuries he suffered in a three-vehicle collision that injured two others.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Teddy Campbell, 47, of Crescent City, was driving his 1986 Honda CRX southbound on U.S. Highway 199, north of Hiouchi, at a high rate of speed and failed to stop when pursued by a CHP officer at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The CHP said the officer lost sight of Campbell and Campbell lost control of the Honda south of Walker Road, rear-ended a 2007 Toyota Prius driven by Michael Svehla, 63, of Lakeport, Calif., crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 1994 Toyota pickup driven by Scott Herriott, 31, of Crescent City. The impact caused the pickup to overturn onto its roof. Herriott and is passenger, Michele Herriott, 30, of Crescent City exited the pickup through the rear window.
