22r tach trouble - MSD Ignition Tech Support Forums
Hello all, I had my stock ignition fail on my 1983 toyota 22r 4x4, it was cheaper to swap the whole thing over to MSD 6a, blaster and a 8920 tach adapter. As my Igniter failed I bypassed it, triggering the 6a from the factory electronic pickup in the dizzy, it took a lot of head-scratching but worked out and got me home, the tack wouldn't read direct from the 6a so I wired in the 8920, every thing worked perfect for a few days and now the tach is inoperable again, sometimes it will jump once when the ignition is turned on otherwise nothing.

Green= ignition trigger, on the Toyota, there is a rubber capped green plug with a single wire near the ignition coil ( IF the truck does not already have a factory tach) This is where your Green wire connects, >DO NOT ALLOW THIS WIRE TO GROUND OUT< it can fry the igniter and will also short the ignition and not allow the truck to run
